TextMaker 2006 for Pocket PCs Goes to Beta  Monday, April 10 2006

Nuernberg, Germany -- April 10, 2006 -- German software vendor
SoftMaker announced today the start of public beta testing of its
new word processor for Pocket PCs, TextMaker 2006.

When TextMaker was first introduced for the Pocket PC three years
ago, it was an overnight sensation: Finally it was possible to do
real word processing on these mobile devices. Finally it was
possibe to open a Microsoft Word file, work on it, and save it
back, with formatting and content intact.

TextMaker has been completely overhauled in the 2006 release and
introduces many significant improvements, such as:

* Updated import and export filters for Microsoft Word
* Import of OpenDocument and OpenOffice.org documents
* A complete AutoShapes-compatible drawing layer built in
* "Track changes" just like in Microsoft Word
* Comments that appear as "balloons"
* Long-document features such as a bibliography
* ... and much more

Tables are much more capable now. Cells can be merged and split,
headers can be made to repeat on every new page, and true nested
tables are supported. The user can even rotate the contents of
individual cells.

TextMaker 2006 offers full Unicode support for composing documents
in the world's languages. But it doesn't stop there: The users can
set menus and dialogs to display in their native languages:
TextMaker comes with user interfaces in English, French, German,
Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Hungarian, Chinese, and
Japanese.

As a member of the OpenDocument Format Alliance (odfalliance.org),
SoftMaker takes pride in its support of the OpenDocument file
format: TextMaker 2006 reads OpenDocument files with high
fidelity, and saving in this format is being worked on by
SoftMaker's developers right now.

TextMaker 2006 for Pocket PCs will carry a suggested retail price
of US$ 49.95 (49.95 Euro).
