Skweezer and WorldLingo Take Online Translation Mobile  Monday, September 26 2005

Greenlight Wireless Corporation today announced that its Skweezer® service, which optimizes Web content for cell phones and PDA's, now provides an online translation service through its partner WorldLingo.

Skweezer's new translation feature is the latest innovation in this much-imitated service and will be the World's first free, globally accessible translation service for the mobile Web. The new component allows a user to translate any Web page into 13 possible languages including Japanese, Korean, and Russian. The addition of this new feature was prompted by a recent survey of Skweezer customers and wireless carriers working with Greenlight Wireless. Both groups, especially those representing countries in South America and Europe, described a need to regularly access content in a non-native language while away from their desktop computer.

WorldLingo was chosen to provide Skweezer's translation component after extensive in-house testing found their solution to be the most accurate and the easiest to integrate of those tested. "WorldLingo is the best of breed when it comes to real-time online translation,” said Kevin Perkins, CEO of Greenlight Wireless. “They have a proven track record, providing translation for companies such as Microsoft and AT&T, as well as a desire to innovate that fits well with Greenlight Wireless' company culture.”

“Skweezer is a leader in wireless technology, and their focus on innovation is highlighted by the fact that they are providing the first translation feature for web browsing,” said Martin Pratt, WorldLingo CEO. “By providing Web translations on mobile phones, people are not restricted by the need to access computers, which can be difficult in some countries.”

Skweezer is a free Web portal/browsing service that optimizes Web pages, searches, and e-mail for use on PDA's and cell phones. Mobile Internet users access Skweezer by visiting www.skweezer.net, then use the portal as a "wireless gateway" to browse and search the Web. Skweezer compresses and reformats content being downloaded, so that it loads faster, looks better, and is easier to navigate. Skweezer includes an e-mail client, RSS reader, address book, site directory, and other useful features designed specifically for the mobile environment. Skweezer is also completely platform independent and can be accessed from Pocket PC, Palm, MS Smartphone, XHTML-based cell phone, and WebTV devices.
