BEIKS unveils BEIKS Dictionary Reader 4.0 for BlackBerry handhelds, updates reference products Friday, July 15 2005 The long awaited BEIKS Dictionary Reader 4.0 (a.k.a. "BDicty", pronounced "bi-dikti") was finally released as a standalone application, separating application code from reference content. In the past all BEIKS references for BlackBerry were standalone packages, combining program and data in a single, standalone package. Improvements in the application viewer could not be deployed without reinstalling the complete package and had to be made for every installed solution individually. With the separation of data and executable code users gain device memory, application usability and maintenance simplicity. Another major improvement announced with the new release is that BEIKS is starting to offer time limited, fully functional trial downloads for the majority of its reference works. Upon expiration of the trial period, users will have to purchase and enter an unlocking code to secure access to the desired reference content, be it language dictionary, medical reference or entertainment title. Finally, the latest dictionary reader provides enhancements like cross-links among articles, navigation history and support for other languages. BEIKS has started gradual transition of all of its currently available titles to the latest revision of its reference platform. Update to latest version of the application and reference titles will come at no additional cost to currently registered BEIKS product owners.
