Handango Releases Mobile Download Stats and Best Sellers for April 2005  Monday, May 16 2005

Handango, the leading provider of mobile downloads, today released the April edition of the Handango Yardstick, a monthly report on the state of the mobile download industry.

For the first time since the fourth quarter of 2003, the HP iPAQ h5000 series was crowned the number one device adding software based on units sold, while the long-time reigning champion, the Tungsten T Series, dropped to number three. The BlackBerry 7250, ranking number three on the list of top phones adding software based on revenue, is the first BlackBerry device to make the top five since the Handango Yardstick launched in the second quarter of 2002. Another first-time appearance was made by the palmOne Zire 71/72, which ranked number five of the top handhelds adding software by revenue.

Since the upgrade of Microsoft Voice Command for U.S., U.K., French and German markets in the first quarter of 2005, the term "voice/voice command" continues to climb the charts, rising from number eight to number five. Lastly, after hitting a record high in March, the average selling price (ASP) of mobile software leveled off, dropping slightly from $20.59 to $20.36 in April.
