PhatWare Announces Medical Dictionary Compatible with CalliGrapher and PenOffice Handwriting Recognition   Thursday, May 5 2005

PhatWare Corporation, a leading provider of software products and professional services for mobile and desktop computers, announces updated Medical Pack for the most recent versions of CalliGrapher and PenOffice handwriting recognition software for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs, as well as Windows-powered Tablet PCs and Desktop PCs.

Medical Pack is a 130,000-word professional strength English language medical dictionary designed for medical professionals to use with CalliGrapher 7.5 or PenOffice 2.6. The dictionary contains medical terms, prescription drugs, abbreviations and more, and includes a 225,000 word combined medical and standard English dictionary.

"I have been using CalliGrapher and PenOffice for years, and the Medical Pack has brought new functionality to my Pocket and Tablet PCs," said Dr. Chris Wilkerson. "The Medical Pack has increased my productivity because it quickly recognizes words I use everyday as I take patient notes."

Medical Pack is used with CalliGrapher and PenOffice to check spelling and provide word suggestions in the on-screen soft keyboard. Medical professionals can use Medical Pack to check the spelling of medical documents in practically any text-based application, such as Pocket Word and Notepad.

"PhatWare's Medical Pack further showcases the broad range of customer experiences supported by Windows Mobile," said Julie Wymetalek, manager of the Mobility Partner Advisory Council at Microsoft Corp. "We are pleased PhatWare has developed Medical Pack integration with CalliGrapher and PenOffice products to assist medical professionals using the Windows Mobile platform."

CalliGrapher 7.5 is natural handwriting recognition software for Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and PenOffice 2.6 is handwriting recognition software for Microsoft Windows Powered Tablet PCs, Desktop or portable PCs. Both pieces of software recognize cursive, print or mixed handwriting and have numerous additional features for user customization.

Version 7.5 of CalliGrapher significantly enhances PenCommander, CalliGrapher's scripting utility that allows users to execute applications, insert repetitive text, access application's commands and more by simply writing the command's name. Version 7.5 includes updated documentation and online help.

PenOffice version 2.6 adds several features to PenOffice's technology, including a customizable keyboard with 13 predefined layouts; Auto Corrector, which improves the quality of handwriting recognition; support for multi-monitor systems; and support for Swedish handwriting recognition.

Medical Pack is compatible with Microsoft Windows Mobile-based devices with CalliGrapher 6.6 or later and Microsoft Windows-powered desktop, portable or Tablet PCs with PenOffice 2.5 or later. Medical Pack is priced at $19.95, but for a limited time can be purchased bundled with CalliGrapher for $39.90 or bundled with PenOffice for $59.90.
