We always hear that a good leader (head, manager, coordinator, director) has what surrounded him with people trained and intelligent to achieve the organizational goals agreed to the post it occupies, as it by itself does not succeed.
A leader needs a team of work and to influence him to be believes the synergy that to achieve results through high standards of performance.
However, I am constantly seeing heads that refuse to share their knowledge, “secrets,” thereby avoiding that his staff never achieved have high levels of performance. What the consequences of this form are of proceed?
In my experience, I have observed that this type of “strategy” to maintain the power and control, in the long run, translates into:
• Difficulty for the achievement of the results
• Increased workload for the chief because no delegates
• Delivery of tasks untimely
• Decrease in the morale and motivation of staff
• Feeling among the partners that the company does not offer opportunities for growth
• AND, worse, low levels of commitment with the leader (head)
Paradoxically, far from accentuate their power, a leader with this type of attitude it undermines it. Imagine expert in your area, with a strong guidance to results, and with a great power to influence… you become a rock, in a pillar… and even when share with your team (or persons outside it) throughout your body of knowledge and the “secret” that the experience has given you, you will have a very strong position within the organization and the admiration and respect of those around you.
