Here the five keys for confronting a crisis situation :
1) Directive aware
To address a crisis situation, it is essential to have the support of the address. Those responsible for the company must understand the threats posed to conduct a mismanagement of the communication at a time of crisis and must commit themselves to prepare strategies to respond to a difficult situation. Despite the fact that in most of the time, the crisis communication arises to minimize the negative effects or reposition the brand, a crisis well-managed at the level of communication can even to strengthen it.
2) Forecasting and preparation
It is impossible to quantify in advance the impact of a crisis or guess if you are going to come to give an extreme case, as a dossier of regulation. Even so, no doubt be prepared for that; minimize the impact that the crisis may have on the image of the company. Count on a manual to continue in the event that is a situation that threatens the image of the mark has become something virtually indispensable for the multinationals and large companies. However, all enterprises should, in fact they could, have a basic guides for action on this type of scenario.
3) Transparency
In the case that we should face a crisis situation, communicate in an open, despite not having good news, is almost always a better strategy than to deny obvious facts or maintain the silence before the questions of media, employees, investors or entities outside the company. Lying is the worst error that can commit the company; try to deceive partners of the company or public opinion will have consequences uncontrollable that stain the image of the company for a long time, but forever.
4) What are we going to explain and how?
That our communication is open and transparent does not mean that before we should not prepare precisely what we are going to say and how we are going to notify – through a note, a press conference, calling personally to key journalists, through press releases, etc. – It is imperative that are doing everything possible to provide solutions through dialog with all parties involved in the crisis.
5) Internal Communication
The company employees, investors in the same, suppliers or partners have the right to be informed about the situation by the passes, the company. Through newsletters, newsletters or meetings should receive information on the part of the address. This will avoid situations of insecurity or the proliferation of rumors and false information. In addition, before a difficult situation, these agents may become the best allies and supporters of the company, if they are informed properly.]
