Paul Mercier was a Russian named Paul Tchereditchenko, who became a Swiss national and adopted the name Mercier later. Few knew how much progress he was to make in his adult life. Which proudly traced its history of watch manufacture to 1830. The Baume & Mercier watches became synonyms with rich heritage of watch movements and perfection of time measuring devices. This Brand par excellence was born in Geneva on 27th August, 1920. Paul Mercier’s choice of Baume watches and ensuing co-operation with it proved to be a mile stone. Baume & Mercier won a diploma from the Geneva Watchmaking Senior Committee, in less than one year.
The State Official Bureau the Poincon de Geneve, certified that the Baume & Mercier Company uses Maximum number of hallmark stamped pieces.
The new pair of celebrities to become ambassadors of the brand for 2010 are, actress Evangeline Lilly (in Lost) and actor David Duchovny (in X-Files). The William Baume Collection was launched towards the end of 2009, while Classima Collection is the new 2010 rage. It comes in three styles, Classima Executives XL-8869, Classima Executives XL-8851 and Classima Executives XL-8870.
It makes the year 2010 look like the year of executives watches, until the brand has something else up their selve.
